Introduction
This web site lets you do a search using
any one of the set of fields in a record to find one or more authority
records from the Children's Publishers Database. This is just an
initial example setup to prove:
- We have imported the data.
- We can do simple searches.
- To test out various display formats of records.
- Is the underlying SQL database designed layed out properly?
Please, do a production search now. You
can look at my test search pages as
well, but it will probably not work properly. It is strictly
for developer use of new features.
Now testing secure logins as well.
Outstanding Issues
- NOTEs are not in the database properly yet. Fixed.
- NOTEs cannot be searched yet. Fixed.
- Searches only work with multiple fields when you select the OR option. I.E. If you search for a heading of "Cotton" and a City of "New Haven", you can only get all the records which match either. You cannot narrow the search to return just those records with Cottan AND New Haven. Fixed
- Update the list of allowed roles.
- Tweak the display.
- Investigate moving the DB and files to www.americanantiquarian.org for production release.
- Add in limits on searches, so that only 10 records get displayed at a time. Fixed.
- Make ROLEs output on one line. In testing.
- Add in AAS standard look as templates. In testing.
- Dump DB in useful format for return to AAS as plain text files for Auditing of data. In planning.
- Return rejected records for fixes. In Planning.
Future Possible Enhancements
- Add in an indication of how many records were returned, out of a
database of X records. This will help Caroline figure out when I'm
playing and have only two records in the database for testing.
- Making the list of records returned more compact, so you would
then click on the record(s) you wanted the full authority record of
and they would be displayed later
